up over 5 million of the population.
Economic Indicators: • GDP Growth forecast in 2004 is 4%-5%. • Chilean imports
of sporting goods amounted to just over $40 million in 2002, up from $36 million in 2001.

Free Trade: • A Free Trade Agreement with Canada
signed in 1997 has eliminated all import duties on sporting goods • A Free Trade Agreement with US signed
in 2003 is now in effect as of January 2004 making 85% of bilateral trade in consumer and industrial
products tariff free and duty free within 4 years.
The Sporting Goods Industry: • Sports beyond traditional soccer and tennis are becoming more
practiced throughout society. • Economic growth over the last 3 years created more disposable income making
sports and outdoor recreational activities more popular. • Over 5 million Chileans participate
actively in sports for personal fitness or leisure. • With exclusive sports, brand loyalty and quality
are appreciated and paid for.
